Synopsis |
The series follows Sookie Stackhouse, a barmaid living in Louisiana who can read people's minds, and how her life is turned upside down when the Vampire Bill, walks into her place of employment two years after vampires 'came out of the coffin' on national television. |

In addition to that the audio is outstanding and the picture is very good. Creepy, violent, tender, intriguing and very sexy, this show is well worth checking out. Highly Recommended. It's an excellent, totally outrageous television series that pushes boundaries and will make you shriek and scream and laugh, and the package is unparalleled in terms of Audio/Video quality for a television series. The interface is absolutely outstanding and while there could have been more special features, the ones that are provided are pretty noteworthy. Don't hesitate to grab this set. Date Reviewed: 29 May 2009 | “True Blood: The Complete First Season” was a really very unique approach at a TV show, regardless of it coming out around the same time as the feature-length film adaption of another vampire book, “Twilight“. The fact that the show was created (adapted actually) by Alan Bell, who’s previous work includes writing “American Beauty” & creating another show “Six Feet Under” is a very appealing reason to start watching the show. The extras are kind of underwhelming and a hassle to dive into, but at least the show looks great and sounds unreal, and at the end of the day, that's all that really matters, right? Recommended. Placed in a unique world, populated with interesting characters and sprinkled with surprising plot twists, the show is easy to get hooked on. I'm just glad that it wasn't running on Fox or it would have been cancelled half way through. Though there is a lot of sex, it's also a very sexy show and well worth checking out. Highly Recommended. Not only is it available at a reasonable price, it features a gorgeous video transfer, a remarkable DTS-HD Master Audio track, and all twelve episodes of the acclaimed series' twisted debut (generously spread across five BD-50 discs). If you haven't sampled the series yet, I would recommend giving an episode or two a try before committing to a purchase. If you've already basked in its ferocity and latched onto its potential, then picking up the Blu-ray edition of True Blood will be one of the easiest decisions you'll face this spring.
