Reviewer: DVD Town | Overall | HD Video | HD Audio | Date Reviewed: 4 November 2009 | I found myself disappointed with "Battlestar Galactica: The Plan" because I was not expecting a clip show that had enough new scenes shot to provide fans and viewers with an alternate narrative for numerous events from the first two series that tried to make the primary Cylon villain from the series finale a little more of a darker side after he stabbed his ´friend´ to death. I´ve seen a number of spin off films from successful television shows and the taste left in my mouth is that "The Plan" was created to make some money while the franchise is still fresh in the minds of its fans. It is a poor effort considering the rich saga it follows. They really could have done a better job. The Blu-ray release looks and sounds better than the DVD release, but it still cannot compete with bigger releases on the format and contains essentially the same bonus items as the standard definition version. Reviewer: High-Def Digest | Overall | Movie | HD Video | HD Audio | Date Reviewed: 3 November 2009 | They say it's tradition for the captain to go down with the ship, so in a way it's fitting that Edward James Olmos helms the final voyage of this exceptional series. Although this Blu-ray delivers an accurate video representation, an outstanding audio soundtrack, and a fair assortment of supplements, 'Battlestar Galactica: The Plan' really isn't recommended for casual viewers. The structure of the movie will be hard to follow unless you've seen the miniseries and first two seasons, and even then major spoilers sneak in from later on (i.e. the identities of the Final Five). So as much as I love the show, this one is only for dedicated BSG fans. (Read Full Review)

Reviewer: DVD Talk | Overall | Movie | HD Video | HD Audio | Date Reviewed: 30 October 2009 | Battlestar Galactica: The Plan combines spectacular visuals and sound with strong performances. If you're an ardent follower of the show and looking for additional character development - this film is highly recommended for your collection. If you haven't yet seen the entire series - consider doing so, and then enjoy The Plan as icing on the cake. (Read Full Review)

Reviewer: Audiophile Audition | Overall | Date Reviewed: 28 October 2009 | This is clearly a feature intended for viewing by someone who has followed most of the five-year-long series; to the uninitiated it will seem like a hodgepodge of completely confusing scenes, in spite of the frequent titles that come up locating the time and place of scenes, such as: “35 Days Following the Attack on Caprica.” (Read Full Review)

Reviewer: DVD Verdict | Overall | Movie | HD Video | HD Audio | Date Reviewed: 28 October 2009 | There is value here for Battlestar buffs, but as a stand-alone film, Battlestar Galatica: The Plan falls short of the superior Razor. (Read Full Review)

Reviewer: The HD Room | Overall | Movie | HD Video | HD Audio | Date Reviewed: 26 October 2009 | Battlestar Galactica: The Plan is a fitting goodbye to a beloved series by many and suitable appetizer before Caprica begins airing in January. If you can get past letting the hypnotic main title music that sounds like a Cylon version of the season one Battlestar Galatica theme loop over and over, then The Plan is executed well enough to warrant your attention and spot alongside the complete series on Blu-ray Disc. Reviewer: DVD Talk | Overall | Movie | HD Video | HD Audio | Date Reviewed: 23 October 2009 | The disc looks and sounds pretty good, but from an extras perspective, it's boring. That being said, the reason this disc was done was to fill in some gaps and provide much-desired answers to some lingering questions for devotees of the show. It's well worth the time and money for. For those unfamiliar with the world of the toasters, do what I did and come into the fold; you'll thank the rest of us later. (Read Full Review)

Reviewer: Big Picture Big Sound | Overall | Movie | HD Video | HD Audio | Date Reviewed: 21 October 2009 | Those folks who can't get enough BSG will surely appreciate The Plan's expanded backstory on key moments from the series, and the new insights they provide. I consider myself a fan, albeit not an obsessed one, so I'm fine remembering Battlestar by its three-hour finale from last spring instead of this modest attempt to reinvent the FTL drive. Reviewer: Blu-ray.com | Overall | Movie | HD Video | HD Audio | Date Reviewed: 19 October 2009 | The Plan, while quite different than what I was expecting, is a thematically thrilling addendum to the Battlestar Galactica mythos that's sure to please diehards searching for every last BSG morsel to devour. Olmos remains one of the series finest directors, pulls powerful performances from his cast, and helms a sharply written, well-conceived script that plugs up plot holes and offers a semi-fresh look at the Cylons and their self-appointed leader, Cavil. Universal's Blu-ray release is just as strong with a faithful video transfer (that's comparable to The Complete Series' high definition presentation), a stirring DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 surround track, and a solid helping of special features. Battlestar junkies won't be disappointed. (Read Full Review)
