Reviewer: Den Of Geek | Overall | Movie | Date Reviewed: 14 December 2009 | Salvation, on Blu-ray especially, looks incredible. Every shot of it. (Read Full Review)

Reviewer: High-Def Digest | Overall | Movie | HD Video | HD Audio | Date Reviewed: 11 December 2009 | If I were asked to make a list of the three biggest blockbuster busts of 2009, 'Terminator Salvation' wouldn't be among my picks. Now that doesn't mean the film is great by any means and it certainly doesn't hold a candle to James Cameron's entries, but considering some of the year's other disasters it could have been far worse. If you're able to get over the initial hump of disappointment the movie isn't half bad, although in all fairness I do think the amazing video/audio presentation of the Blu-ray makes it go down a little easier. Let's not forget the entire supplemental package is exclusive to the format as well, and as usual Warner's cutting-edge Maximum Movie Mode is enough of a reason to own this disc. (Read Full Review)

Reviewer: DoBlu.com | Movie | HD Video | HD Audio | Date Reviewed: 1 December 2009 | Herein lies the issue with Terminator Salvation: It doesn’t need to exist. It neither expands the mythology or introduces any concepts that effect the previous films. What it does is blow things up… a lot. While probably not a record holder for explosions in a film, it’s the one lasting memory you’ll take away. (Read Full Review)

Reviewer: DVD Talk | Overall | Movie | HD Video | HD Audio | Date Reviewed: 29 November 2009 | Terminator 3 - Rise of the Machines was a blatant cash-grab for Hollywood, but Terminator Salvation brings the series back to a place that's filled with both jaw-dropping action and thought provoking, thematically driven concepts. Even more impressive is its ability to heighten the man vs. machine storyline element by using a character other than John Connor. Sam Worthington brings more to the table than even Christian Bale this time around, and that says a lot. Salvation not only feels familiar and canon despite taking a new, bold direction in storytelling, but it also returns the terminator machines themselves to a place where they can once again be considered intimidating to the audience. The Blu-ray disc presentation can be considered practically reference quality especially when taking the audio design into consideration, and the Maximum Movie Mode is enough to make any supplement loving geek pleased with how incredibly fun and informative it is to watch. This is easily a release I can highly recommend, but those who don't care for double dips should be warned - That extra 30 or 40 minutes McG told us about might surface at some point when Warner Brothers wants to cash in on the film once again, but considering how well the film stands on its own as is in the Director's Cut, it probably wouldn't be for the better. Reviewer: DVD Verdict | Overall | Movie | HD Video | HD Audio | Date Reviewed: 27 November 2009 | Terminator Salvation is an excellent entry in the venerable franchise, erasing any bad taste residue the previous movie. It was lost in a summer of other big budget blockbusters, but this movie deserves to be recognized. Not only does it do justice to the series, it also stands on its own as a solid, fun movie. Yes, it's a dour, dark, and gritty movie, but it still has characters you can root for, action scenes that will thrill you, and an adventure that will have you coming back for more. Add to that a brilliant Blu-ray release with superb audio and video transfers and some awesome bonus materials, and you have a movie you really need to watch and enjoy. Terminator Salvation is given a very strong and robust buy recommendation. It is one of the year's best discs. I hope it'll be back in a fifth movie. (Read Full Review)

Reviewer: DVD Town | Overall | HD Video | HD Audio | Date Reviewed: 27 November 2009 | "Terminator Salvation," "Transformers 2," "G.I. Joe," "2012." I suppose one could make an argument for 2009 action blockbusters being perfect demo discs, especially the Blu-ray editions, for high-end home theaters. But how much demo fare does a person need, and how often would you really play these things? "Terminator Salvation" looks and sounds great in high-def, but it's essentially just another loud, empty entry in the action-adventure genre and a not-so-worthy successor to three far-better "Terminator" forerunners. And I'm sure we haven't seen the end of the franchise. (Read Full Review)

Reviewer: Big Picture Big Sound | Overall | Movie | HD Video | HD Audio | Date Reviewed: 24 November 2009 | The name Terminator used to be synonymous with Arnold, but he's moved on and perhaps so should Hollywood. Salvation is anything but for the once-venerable franchise, large-scale and high-octane but left searching for a soul, like some misguided cyborg, or maybe just in dire need of a point. Reviewer: The HD Room | Overall | Movie | HD Video | HD Audio | Date Reviewed: 23 November 2009 | Because Terminator Salvation is a technical marvel made for home theater, the Blu-ray Disc – currently the only place to get the director's cut – comes with a bittersweet recommendation. Reviewer: Blu-ray.com | Overall | Movie | HD Video | HD Audio | Date Reviewed: 20 November 2009 | Terminator Salvation is not only a loud, action-packed, and special effects-heavy summer extravaganza, but also a pitch-perfect extension to the series while also offering a somewhat meaningful look at what it means to be human and man's superiority to machine. Terminator Salvation also introduces new characters and technologies but never leaves the confines of established franchise lore, and the result is an exciting visual spectacle that also carries on the series' legacy while simultaneously creating its own identity within the Terminator universe. Warner Brothers' Blu-ray release of Terminator Salvation delivers a stunning 1080p transfer and a deafening reference-quality soundtrack that's among the very best Blu-ray has to offer. All that's missing is a more thorough supplemental package beyond the excellent "Maximum Movie Mode" feature, but Terminator Salvation nevertheless comes highly recommended. (Read Full Review)
