Reviewer: Big Picture Big Sound | Overall | Movie | HD Video | HD Audio | Date Reviewed: 31 October 2009 | Just calling Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen "a big, loud action trifle based on toys" is not entirely fair. It is an exceptionally well-produced big, loud action trifle based on toys, and I'm okay with that. I didn't learn a blessed thing about the world or myself, but I did spend two-and-a-half hours watching and listening with rapt attention while this disc made my home theater its bitch. Reviewer: DVD Verdict | Overall | Movie | HD Video | HD Audio | Date Reviewed: 26 October 2009 | Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen is a disjointed, noisy assault on the brain stem. I can't argue that. But I don't think it's the demonic force it's been made out to be. There's fun to be had, I just wish Michael Bay would have been more interested in hacking off the gristle. The Blu-ray is a technical monster. (Read Full Review)

Reviewer: High Def Disc News | Movie | HD Video | HD Audio | Date Reviewed: 24 October 2009 | The truth is that the title “Critic” is thrown around so loosely today that it means virtually nothing, and this has had an adverse effect on the way the audiences view critical opinions in general. Now, I don’t claim to be a critic, but I do consider myself a filmmaker, and an avid film watcher. And while I’m far from an authority of film theory and history, I’d like to think I know a thing or two about the craft, and when I see something that is genuinely exciting, entertaining, and worthwhile I recommend it. It’s as simple as that. Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen is one such movie. It might not be for everyone, and it’s certainly not destined to be a timeless classic, but I enjoyed it thoroughly all the same, and I am most definitely looking forward to whatever comes next. Reviewer: High-Def Digest | Overall | Movie | HD Video | HD Audio | Date Reviewed: 23 October 2009 | I'm sure that what I have to say about the movie is irrelevant to the purchasing decisions of anyone reading this. If you really must buy this movie, and I'm sure that you must, the Blu-ray has excellent audio and video (though I wouldn't call them perfect) and a lot of bonus features. If you want my opinion, I say spare yourself the tedium and spend your money on an actual good movie instead. But you're not going to listen to me, so go do what you're gonna do. Just don't say I didn't warn you. Autobots, transform and… Eh, forget it… (Read Full Review)

Reviewer: Blu-ray.com | Overall | Movie | HD Video | HD Audio | Date Reviewed: 21 October 2009 | Excessively bloated, lacking in focus, far too kinetic, and hedging its bets on inane comic relief, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen is a borderline disaster of a movie. Though it retains a similar look and feel to its vastly superior predecessor, Fallen accentuates the negatives in an effort to mask the weak plot, and worst of all, the movie just isn't much fun. With a third installment supposedly in the works, one can only hope that it will forego the bad comedy in favor of a leaner, meaner, more aggressive picture that also returns the sense of wonder and fun found in the first film. Still, there's an artistry here that transcends the bad script and excessive runtime; Michael Bay's style might be a bit too much when taking into account all that's going on in most every frame, but there is no denying that the man is a talented filmmaker and knows how to put together a movie that people want to see. Though the movie may not be up to par, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen arrives on Blu-ray as a two-disc package that represents the pinnacle of the format, and this IMAX edition of the film is THE one to own. It may not come with any added gimmicks that only drive the price up, but for those film fans looking for simply the best visual presentation of the film, this is it. Also featuring one of the best lossless soundtracks yet (though it seems to lack the same power as that found on the standard version), and a plethora of bonus materials that truly convey the grand scope of the Herculean effort that goes into making a movie like this, the technical specifications make this package a winner, even if the movie could have been better. This IMAX edition of Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen comes highly recommended. (Read Full Review)

Reviewer: DVD Town | Overall | HD Video | HD Audio | Date Reviewed: 20 October 2009 | "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" provides all the eye candy a person could ask for and makes a splendid demo piece for folks looking to show off their super-new home theaters. Just don't look for a plot, a story thread, characterizations, interactions, depth, variety, nuance, subtlety, or themes. In five-minute doses, the movie works perfectly well. Just don't make me watch it again in its entirety. (Read Full Review)

Reviewer: DoBlu.com | Movie | HD Video | HD Audio | Date Reviewed: 20 October 2009 | See, summer blockbusters are not allowed to simply blow things up; they still need a base, rules, light logic, and a core to fall back on. That’s what separates the enjoyable junk food of the movie world from the Transformers. It is especially critical in the case of a franchise like this. It is even worse when you have 150 minutes to do so, and still fail miserably. (Read Full Review)
